You try make a list of your favourite movies of all time

People on Facebook will do a ten day challenge, posting their favourite book, movie, song, etc. I tried a few times and trailed off. So when I was tagged to do a movies challenge, I declined but decided to make this list. It has been in the works for about a year and a half now.

This is close to being my favourite movies of all time, the movies that made a lasting impression on me. I could sit down over three different days/weeks/months, and write out three separate lists, and get different results. There would be some obvious overlaps, but likely each one would be different.

Sci-Fi obviously rates very high on my list, that should surprise no one. Only a handful of people will know that I love the old cowboy movies. And the other movies, well they just resonate with me for various reasons.

This list is being presented alphabetical, as I don’t think I could really do true ranked list.

2001 A Space Odyssey (1968)
African Queen (1951)
Bon Cop, Bad Cop (2006)
Boys Town (1938)
Bridge on the River Kwai (1957)
Butch and Sundance (1969)
Captain Blood (1935)
Captains Courageous (1937)
Casablanca (1942)
Cool Hand Luke (1967)
Cowboys (1972)
Dead Poet’s Society (1989)
Dirty Harry (1971)
Ghostbusters (1984)
Good Morning Vietnam (1987)
Hidden Figures (2016)
MASH (1970)
Monty Python and The Holy Grail (1975)
Mutiny on The Bounty (1935)
My Fair Lady (1964)
Oklahoma Kid (1939)
Sound of Music (1965)
Star Trek, First Contact (1996)
Star Trek, Search for Spock (1984)
Star Trek, Wrath of Khan (1982)
Star Wars, A New Hope (1977)
The Exorcist (1973)
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly (1966)
The Imitation Game (2014)
True Grit (1969)

Take careful note that Batman is my all time favourite comic, and none of the movies made my list. What I consider poor casting choices in the 80s put me off the franchise. I did enjoy Dark Knight Trilogy at least, so I will give it honourable mention.
